A magic world of Mixed Media

Hello fellow creative souls!

I am so excited to once again share my magic world of mixed media art with you. After many years of running in-person workshops and on-line classes, I have a whole range of different classes in my portfolio. For this class, I really wanted to do something different! What would I like to show next? After some thinking, I decided on doing something that I have wanted to do for a long time but I have not dared to.

When I paint on my own in my studio, I very seldom have a picture in my head of what I am going to do. I start to work in my art journal and then I start a canvas in parallel. I work back and forth between the canvas and the journal and as soon as I get stuck on the canvas I move over to the journal. In the journal, I can explore and create totally free from any requirements to perform or to achieve a result. I can just feel, find and explore colors, marks and images. I work intuitively and I very seldom get stuck or blocked when working in this way.

You will be a whirlwind with me in my studio and when the magic happens, as it does when I totally let go, I hope you will be with me on the journey! It was important to me to share the vibration, energy and rawness of this creative process and I hope it will inspire and enliven your own way of working!

My goal with this class is to share my LOVE of mixed media and intuitive creating with you. I hope I can encourage you to just DO, to enjoy the process and not be attached to the result. I hope you will join me on this journey to find AND EXPRESS our Voice!

My process is very unstructured, tactile and yes a little messy too! I have demonstrated this style of working in some of my art journaling classes, where I jump from page to page without finishing the pages and with no real structure, but I have never shown my intuitive process when working on a canvas… until now :)

So here we go. This class is all about the beauty of process!

We will learn how to listen to the whispering of our hearts and watch our work expand and grow! I have seen this blossom in my own creations and I’m so excited to now share it with you!

I have filmed this class in a different way - not my normal set up but in different places in my studio. You see I tend to move about my studio as I create, this keeps my body moving and my heart connected to the ebb and flow of creating! You will see me painting at different tables, with the canvas on the wall and on the floor!

Here's a description of each of our special projects:

6. Express your Voice Follow your feeling 4.JPG

PROJECT 1 - EXPRESS YOUR VOICE BY FEELING

In this project, I will show you how I get the inspiration for a new color palette and combinations of marks. I start with adding collage and paint to a page in an old vintage book. By working with what I like and what I feel I slowly end up with a new combination of colors and marks that I then bring to my canvas. This is a purely intuitive process that is raw and full of soul.

7. Express your Voice Using what feels good 1.jpg

PROJECT 2 - USING WHAT FEELS GOOD

In this project, I am creating another spread in my art journal. I am using the color palette from my previous page and I am creating contrast, marks and patterns. I am still trying to just feel what I like and what I enjoy. I am not thinking about a result. I am present, I am feeling and I am doing. That’s it! I am collecting colors and marks that I feel something for and I bring them to my canvas. You are going to be hooked on this way of “feeling” into your work.

8 Express your Voice 3Finding my flow 2.JPG

PROJECT 3 - FINDING MY FLOW

In the third project, I am doing yet another spread in my journal. I start my painting sessions in the journal to find my flow, to try some marks and to find the image that I then draw and paint on the canvas. I alternate between painting in the journal and on the canvas. This bridge between my journal and the canvas is the key! It keeps me loose and free!

PROJECT 4 - EXPRESS YOUR VOICE

The fourth project is painted on a canvas. This painting is done in parallel with the other projects and I am applying all the joy and feelings from the Art Journal to the canvas. I am using the color palette, the marks and the imagery that makes my heart beat fast!! The canvas is the final expression of my voice! I can’t wait to see yours!

BONUS LESSON - FINAL TOUCHES

In the bonus lesson I will do some finishing touches to my journal pages to turn them into soulful grungy pieces of art! You will love these little special touches!

This way of reviewing and adjusting our work is meditative and done in a gentle, explorative way. We learn from our mistakes and move on to create with more confidence and tranquility.
