Reclaim the space and confidence to be creative again

You know what it’s like. You often feel tired, not because you’re too busy, but because you’re not making time to do what brings you joy. It’s easy to get swept up with responsibilities and put off your creative time. Besides, where would you begin?

I know you’re yearning to reconnect, find joy and express yourself. That’s why I’ve created this free mixed media art retreat.

I’ll be your creative guide over 3 inspiring days, where you’ll rediscover the tools and the courage to be creative again–step-by-step.

And here’s the best bit…

You can do it from the sanctuary of your own home.

So how does it work?

Starting on 3 May, I will release new lessons every day over the FREE Online Mixed Media Art Retreat. Simply log into the classroom and enjoy your daily lessons and access the awesome resources that come as part of this incredible retreat.

I know that getting started can be difficult so we will start with 2 LIVE sessions to help get you started and help build your confidence. You will also have access to the Facebook community to connect with fellow creatives and encourage and support each other along the way.

Take a look at the daily content below to see how much you get for FREE!!!

DAY 1 - Learn how to get started with just a few supplies

To create a piece of mixed media art that is a true expression of you, you don’t need to go out and spend hundreds on art supplies.

I’ll show you how to start your creative journey with just a few things you already have and that feel right for you.

And for those curious-creators, we’ll explore a range of my go-to art supplies and alternatives, so when you’re ready you can grow and play.

There will be some pre-recorded lessons and two one hour Live Sessions Day 1.

DAY 2 - Get inspired by different styles and types of art journals

Discover different mixed media techniques and kinds of art journals so you can find a style that inspires you. I’ll show you how to paint in an old book and share how I make a simple handmade journal. See how I get into the flow, experiment and try new things without letting fear hold me back–so you can do it too.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Let go and have fun with new techniques and different styles (and understand the materials you’re working with)

  • Listen to your inner artist (so you feel confident to try new things without worrying about the end result)

The Day 2 content is pre-recorded.

DAY 3 - Find your flow and finish what you started

How often have you started something and abandoned it because you got stuck or lost confidence? No more!

Together, we’ll work through a project start to finish, step-by-step. This class, ‘The Gift of Imperfection’ will share more of my evolving mixed media process. It’s unstructured, tactile and messy but fun! You’ll learn how to:

  • Uncover the magic - your uniqueness (as this has done for me)

  • Create something meaningful to you (and do it again and again)

  • Immerse yourself in the making, by letting it evolve over time (without the pressure of getting it right first go)

It’s time to build up your creative muscles again. Are you ready?

The Day 3 content is pre-recorded.

“Before I took Jenny’s classes, I rarely got excited by what I was creating. Now I’m able to find that flow state where I’m happier, less frustrated and excited by what I’m making.”

– Jennifer P

Banish your blocks and your fears. Awaken your creative spirit now.

I’m Jenny Grant and will be your creative guide.

Jenny Grant Mixed media artist.jpg

A perfectly imperfect, mixed media artist.

Like you, I’ve spent many years pushing aside my creative spark. Then, one day I realised the only way to awaken my inner artist was to just dive in and do it.

This means focusing on the process of making art–the making and doing. Over the years I’ve developed an intuitive, unstructured, tactile and yes, a messy (but fun!) process that has allowed me to open up the magic of what is unique within me.

Now, I am a full time Mixed Media Artist living in Stockholm, Sweden who has sold artwork, exhibited and run workshops all over the world. And I’m on a mission to inspire people like you to be brave, to use your inner creativity (yes, you are creative!) and to do more of what you love. To learn how to be more creative in life, as well as in your art.

I love sharing my magic world with you and can’t wait to see you in this free retreat. I have seen how my creative approach has helped the creativity blossom in me and in thousands of my students. I’m so excited to share it with you to inspire you to expand your skills, and grow your creative confidence too.

Love Jenny

What my students say…

“I just watched the class videos for Bye Bye Perfection and have simply fallen in love with what you teach, and how you teach. I cannot wait to start a journal page using your process/techniques. I think you have set me free! Oh.....and in the video, when you tore the edges off the journal pages I swooned! OMG I love that look SO much! Thank you!””

— Peggy

"I wanted to thank you for the beautiful atmosphere at the workshop. I felt such a belonging. I think I've never felt that kind of belonging except at home. Maybe I was at home :) And you have really an encouraging way to teach, I felt you encouraged me to do my kind of art besides giving me new ideas how to use different tools etc. Thank you so much!"

-Barbara

“What an amazing teacher Jenny is. She explains things and demonstrates how to do certain steps so eloquently. I am looking so forward to finding my inner wizard. Thank you so very much Jenny for opening up your heart and your process of creating such beautiful art.”

-Dianne

Frequently Asked Questions

What art supply do I need to be part of the retreat?

You’ll get a full list of materials and supplies within the course, but you don’t need much to get started.

I believe in reusing and recycling materials and I will show you how to do the same. I’m sure you already have a lot of it at home. Some of the most common things I use are:

  • A couple of pieces of paper, such as mixed media paper
  • Pieces of scrap paper from old books
  • Old craft supplies (stencils, cardboard, string, scrap booking paper, etc)
  • Acrylics paints, inks and matt medium
  • Different brushes, sponges, a pallet knife or credit card will do
  • Pencils, pens, scissors, glue, rags

You can start with what you have, and build on it as you learn and experiment.

How much time should I set off for the event?

The lessons are approximately 1,5 hours per day. If you want to set off time to create on your own during the retreat weekend I would suggest that you set off 1-3 hours each day.

What is the schedule and when will I have access to the lessons?

We will start May 3. The pre-recorded lessons will be available in the classroom for each day at 12 am UTC for that day. There will be two live sessions in the Facebook Group on the Friday. They are at different times to both suit Americas, South Pacific and European time zones.

I am in a different time zone. Will I be able to participate?

Yes, absolutely!! Most of the lessons are prerecorded and will be available in the classroom for each day at 12 am UTC for that day. The live sessions will be held at different times to suit several different time zones. There will be live sessions suited for both Americas, Australia and European time zones. How long do I have access to the course material?

The content will be available for 3 days with a possibility to add a months access to a very low cost.

I don't have FB, so am I still able to do the course?
