Taking time to slow down this summer reminded me how much space and energy we gain when we step away from the rush. It’s in those quiet moments — swimming in the sea, wandering to the studio, letting my mind drift — that my best ideas take form.
One idea has been with me for a long time: Creating an online class that feels like painting together in person — full of joy, flow, shared discovery, and creative magic.
This autumn, I will finally bring that dream to life with Layers of Her — a three-week journey into expressive mixed media portraits. No pressure to be perfect — just space to show up, explore, and connect with your creative voice.

One of the projects I’ll create during a set of live sessions is a full, expressive portrait from start to finish. I’ll be in my studio, completely in the flow. And when that magic happens (because it always does when I let go), I can’t wait for you to be there with me, experiencing it in real time.
It’s so important to me to share the energy, vibration, and rawness of my creative process. And what better way to do that than through a mix of live sessions where you can feel the energy, pre-recorded exercises you can return to at any time, and a community of creatives all painting alongside you?
Live Sessions – Paint With Me, Layer by Layer
Join me live each week as we bring one expressive portrait to life together.
To deepen your experience, this class includes three live sessions, running in parallel with the weekly course modules. While you explore each step of the creative process from recorded lessons, I’ll be working on a large canvas portrait in real time — from the first messy marks to the soulful final layers.
Each session reflects the creative focus of the week, giving you a front-row seat to the full unfolding of an expressive mixed media portrait.
All live sessions will be recorded and added to your course hub — so you can watch and rewatch anytime, at your own pace.
How the 3 weeks will unfold
Module 1 - Entering the Flow Space
We begin by slowing down and softening into the creative process. There’s no pressure to make anything “good” — just space to show up and begin. You’ll be gently guided to set up a nourishing space to create in, and then we’ll dive into playful warm-ups using mark-making and handmade collage papers. Through loose, intuitive layers, you’ll start reconnecting with your creative flow — no portraits yet, just motion, color, and texture.
This is a space to let go of expectations and remember how good it feels to simply create. You’ll move from busy mind to intuitive marks — gently waking up your artistic voice, one messy mark at a time.
Live Session 1 - Starting Loose
Collage & Flow
We begin by working freely with paper, movement, and intuitive marks. I’ll show you how I build a layered background on a large canvas using the collage papers and mark-making techniques explored in Module 1. This session is all about letting go of expectations and following the rhythm of the materials.
Module 2 - Foundations for Expressive Portraits
Now that you’ve eased into the creative flow, we’ll gently begin exploring the human face — not through strict rules, but through intuitive structure, layered marks, and emotional expression.
Using a very simple face guide, I’ll show you how to sketch basic proportions in a way that feels relaxed and approachable. We’ll let our collaged backgrounds support the looseness, helping us stay playful and open as the face begins to emerge. Through quick sketches, intuitive layering, and mark-making, you’ll start to feel how soulful, expressive portraits can unfold without needing to be perfect. And when things feel awkward or uncertain (as they always do in the middle!), I’ll guide you through it — showing you how to keep going with trust and curiosity.
Live Session 2 - From Chaos to Form
Let the Face Emerge
With a simple, relaxed face guide, we’ll sketch and begin painting the face. You’ll see how the portrait emerges from the background as I work with contrast, light, and shadow — just like you’ll explore in your own way during the second module.
Module 3 - Layers with Emotion and Expression
This is where your portrait begins to take on a life of its own.
In this module, we’ll build on the foundation you’ve created — adding layers of contrast, color, and feeling as the face starts to emerge from the background. I’ll show you how to work intuitively with emotion as your guide, following the flow of the marks, the collage, and the energy of the piece rather than trying to control the outcome.
We’ll play with transparency and boldness, light and shadow, messy lines and unexpected choices — all in the spirit of deepening the expression in your work. Along the way, you’ll begin to see not just a face, but a story, a mood, a piece of yourself revealed in every imperfect layer.
Live Session 3 - Giving Her Soul
Eyes, Emotion & Final Layers
We’ll bring the portrait to life through expressive detail — especially the eyes. I’ll show you how I use intuitive color, contrast, and emotional layering to deepen the story and create soulful presence in the final layers.

I am Jenny and I am your Creative Guide in this class.
I am a perfectly imperfect, mixed media artist.
Like you, I spent many years pushing aside my creative spark. Then, one day I realised the only way to awaken my inner artist was to just dive in and do it.
This means focusing on the process of making art–the making and doing. Over the years I’ve developed an intuitive, unstructured, tactile and yes, messy (but fun!) process that has allowed me to open up the magic of what is unique within me.
Now, I am a Mixed Media Artist living in Stockholm, Sweden who has sold artwork, exhibited and run workshops all over the world. And I’m on a mission to inspire people like you to be brave, to use your inner creativity and to do more of what you love. To learn how to be more creative in life, as well as in your art.

What art supplies do I need?
You’ll get a full list of materials and supplies when you sign up to the course, but you don’t need much to get started.
I believe in reusing and recycling materials. I’m sure you already have a lot of it at home. Some of the most common things I use are:
- A couple of pieces of thick paper to paint on
- A streatched Canvas at least 24"x 24"(60x60cm)
- Pieces of scrap paper from old books
- Acrylic paints, acrylic inks, acrylic matt medium and acrylic modeling paste
- Different brushes, sponges, a pallet knife or an old credit card will do
- Mark making tools (stencils, caps, skewers etc.)
- Pencils, pens, rags
You can start with what you have, and build on it as you learn and experiment.
When will I have access to the videos?
The classroom will open on October 13. The lessons will be dropped during 3 weeks. You will have access to all the content for 2 years.
How long do I have access to the course material?
I want you to be able to develop solid creative habits so you’ll have access to the materials for two years. During this time, you’ll be able to revisit the content, the materials lists and the videos as many times as you wish.
What if I have a technical problem with the course and can’t access the videos?
There are a few ways to contact me if you’re experiencing problems:
